About Beats Till Death
Beats Till Death is a memento mori for the digital age—a tool designed to remind us that our time is finite, measured not just in years, but in the very beats of our hearts.
The Inspiration
The idea for this project sparked from a simple question on a quiz show: "How many breaths does a person take in a day?" It was a reminder of the biological rhythms that sustain us, usually unnoticed.
Combined with the visual impact of Kurzgesagt’s "Life in Weeks" poster, the concept evolved into a dynamic counter. Seeing a number tick down is visceral. It turns the abstract concept of "mortality" into something immediate and tangible.
Our Mission
This isn't about fear. It's about perspective.
In our busy lives, it's easy to lose track of time. We procrastinate on our dreams, delay spending time with loved ones, and put off our health goals. By visualizing the finite nature of our heartbeats, we hope to inspire users to:
- Prioritize their cardiovascular health.
- Make the most of their remaining time.
- Live with intention and gratitude.
Privacy First
We believe your health data is yours alone. That's why Beats Till Death is built with a privacy-first architecture:
- No Server Storage: Your age, weight, and health details are processed entirely on your device.
- No Tracking: We don't build a profile of you.
- Local Persistence: Data is saved only to your browser's local storage so you can return to it later.
